Abstract

This article examines the historical process of women's rise in the labor market and their advancement into leadership positions, considering both historical and contemporary contexts. Based on the literature review, this discussion examines transformations since the Industrial Revolution, the feminist movements of the twentieth century, policies promoting gender equality, and recent trends such as remote work, the digital economy, and ESG practices. The research highlights advances in female participation, but also persistent challenges, such as wage inequality, the double shift, the glass ceiling, and other structural barriers. The role of education, globalization, and technological innovation is emphasized as factors that have expanded opportunities, but also exposed contradictions in equitable access. It concludes that, despite the achievements, full equity still depends on structural, cultural, and institutional changes.
