Abstract

This article is part of the author's work, presented to obtain the degree of Licentiate in Law, obtaining a grade of 17; subordinated to “The Civil Name as a Value of Social Integration and Harmony”, with the objective of analyzing and explaining the possible problems that may involve the life of the individual in the social environment, because it is given a pejorative, vexatious, shameful name or that the ridicules, creating constraints and a negative impact on the bearer's social integration and harmony; based on observation methodology, unorganized, bibliographic, deductive and normative and hermeneutical questionnaire. The right to a name is a personality right whose purpose is the identification and individualization of the person in the society in which he lives, and to guarantee collective security. And this function is so relevant that it ends up merging with the very personality of the individual who carries it, integrating it into their personality and being part of their “being” for the rest of their lives and keeping them until death. The subject is of important significance in the context of recent discussions on the inclusion or exclusion of an extra name, in the designation of a person and implicated, regarding their social life, taking into account that it is by the name that the person will be identified and it is for him that he will answer for his obligations and rights. The name has a series of characteristics brought by law and doctrine, such as mandatory and unavailability.
