Abstract

Introduction: Improving processes in labor activities is essential, especially with the constant emergence of new health technologies. The therapeutic plan is an integrated tool that involves all professionals in patient care, from hospitalization to discharge, aiming to plan care, monitor outcomes, and ensure safety. Materials and Methods: A quantitative, observational, cross-sectional, and retrospective study conducted at the Hospital das Clínicas Luzia de Pinho Melo, in Mogi das Cruzes, São Paulo. Results: Patients without complications stayed an average of 2.26 days, while those with complications stayed an average of 8.84 days. Age and gender did not affect the effectiveness of the therapeutic plan. The main factor affecting the patient's discharge with acute appendicitis was the stage of disease complication. Discussion: Appendicitis is characterized by acute abdominal pain, initially in the mesogastric region, then moving to the lower right quadrant. Treatment typically requires surgery, but non-surgical antibiotic treatment may be possible in certain clinical situations. Conclusion: This study demonstrated the effectiveness of the therapeutic plan in acute appendicitis, with 72% of patients being discharged within the 3-day timeframe after proper use of antibiotics and adequate monitoring, highlighting the importance of this approach in hospital care.
